A new rehabilitation scheme has been started by the New Delhi Government. The scheme we are here discussing about is launched mainly for the poor families living in slums. The number of economical weaker section are in abundance in our country. These financial weaker section are those people who don’t have enough money to buy a house or to rent a house. So these people form slums to make a shelter for themselves. Till now the number of slums has increased in a large number, which means the number of poor people are increasing. These people have a very minute source of income which is not even enough for their daily meals.

The efforts of the Delhi government came in front by the new rehabilitation scheme which is known as the “Delhi Jahan Jhuggi Wahan Makan Scheme“. By this scheme the main motto of Delhi government is to make houses in place of slums. As per the scheme, new houses will be constructed in place of the slums for the poor people. The new constructed houses will then be allotted to the poor people. These houses will be constructed by the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement board (DUSIB).

DUSIB approved the proposal of these houses in the month of February 2017. At that time the proposal was approved to construct 6178 flats for the economical weaker section (EWS). These houses will be constructed in those places where there are higher number of slums such as Lajpat Nagar, Dev Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar, Manglopuri, and Bhalaswa. But recently DUSIB is going to construct 582 flats for EWS families in the place named as the Rana Pratap Bagh in South Delhi Sangam park. It will be located in few meters away from South Delhi

The project will be multi storied

About 12 to 18 floors will be constructed in one building

Lift and parking facility will also be available in the building

Each flat will be having a bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, a small living room and a balcony

These flats will be constructed within 2- 3 years and will then be allotted to the poor people. The flats to EWS will be provided for free. Whereas in some cases a loan facility will also be given to such people to but the houses. But in maximum cases these houses will be provided for free.
